Miguel Castro Castro Prison v. Peru
In the Case of Penal Miguel Castro Castro, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights DECIDES: unanimously that the Peruvian State must, within a reasonable time, effectively investigate the facts denounced in the present case, identify and, where appropriate, sanction those responsible. Likewise, the State must pay, within 18 months, the amounts established in the present Judgment, as compensation for material damages caused to the 41 deceased inmates, the surviving inmates, and the inmates' family members for search and burial expenses.
