Violence Against Ayacuchan Women During Peru's Internal Armed Conflict, 1980–2000

Violence is a sociocultural and historico-political phenomenon that has accompanied the course of human history, expressing itself in various ways and enabling the hierarchical ordering of societies. Violence is closely linked to processes of exclusion and discrimination, which in Peru's internal armed conflict placed indigenous and poor women in the most vulnerable conditions. Women have played and continue to play a central role in the development of societies, which is why it is essential to protect and guarantee women's participation in society, without overlooking events such as those that occurred in Peru.
