Gender in Transition: Common Sense, Women

This article explores some testimonies that emerged from the truth commissions in Peru and their implications in relation to women and war. It examines what constitutes "gender-sensitive" research strategies, as well as the ways in which truth commissions have incorporated these strategies into their work. Truth and memory are categories that are, in fact, shaped by gender, but not necessarily in the ways that common sense suggests. Therefore, the text aims to offer a more nuanced understanding of the gender-related dimensions present in war.
