Loayza Tamayo Case
By this ruling the Court decides that the State of Peru violated, to the detriment of María Elena Loayza Tamayo, the rights to personal liberty and personal integrity recognized in the American Convention on Human Rights, and that therefore the State of Peru must release María Elena Loayza Tamayo within a reasonable period, and is obligated to pay fair compensation to the victim and her family members and to reimburse the expenses they incurred in their dealings with Peruvian authorities in connection with this proceeding, for which the corresponding procedure remains open.
