The Distances of Memory
In December 2006, the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (IDEHPUCP) conducted a public opinion study aimed at exploring the perceptions and memory of Peruvians regarding the internal armed conflict the country experienced during the 1980s and 1990s. Four years after the presentation of the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (CVR), it is pertinent to reflect on the visions and lessons that Peruvians have constructed around this tragic episode of their recent history.
