Truth and Impunity in the Accomarca Case

Between 1980 and 2000, Peru experienced an episode of political violence — an unprecedented internal armed conflict — that left a painful toll of murders, kidnappings, forced disappearances, torture, unjust detentions, serious crimes, and human rights violations. The author recounts the events that occurred in Accomarca, where an army patrol murdered peasants and looted their belongings, with no justice having been served to this day.
