Literature, the Truth Commission and the Museum of Memory

Memory is a very difficult problem of the present — that is, of the meaning and significance that today — yes, today — we want to build about our history. That is why a Museum of Memory is very necessary, because it is urgent to powerfully symbolize the history of coups d'état in the country so that they are never repeated, and so that those who believe (or believed) in them become definitively discouraged. A Museum of Memory would be fundamental because such a place could well become a good cultural center for staging theater performances, music concerts, political discussion forums, oral performances, roundtables, and many other activities, organized — again — by civil society to promote critical thinking and reflection on the country.
