Goals That Kill
Reports of deaths of women — all of them poor — subjected to surgical sterilization within a state family planning program accelerated, at the beginning of that year, the questioning of the program itself for setting aside informed consent and women's health, as well as for its intent to regulate the reproductive behavior of the population in a compulsory manner.
