THE PERFECT DEMOCRACY

Those who work hard to keep young Peruvians ignorant have done an excellent job. CONGRATULATIONS! It is clear they have applied themselves fully. In the Americas, only students from Haiti score worse. Cheers to the presidents of our "rich mountains, beautiful lands, smiling beaches, snow-capped peaks, rivers, ravines." They have fulfilled the task of narcotizing the future citizens of one of the wealthiest countries in the world—wealthy not for its inhabitants, but for those who benefit from the ignorance and lethargy of the population. That is why no presidential candidate has placed Education at the top of their political agenda; it has not even been necessary to make promises. Once a new government is installed, Education is not a priority topic in political debates, except when the teachers' union demands a few miserable salary increases. Of course, parents are unaware of the reality and believe their children are receiving a good education. We have surpassed any Orwellian fantasy; we are content with ignorance and poverty, grateful to live in a rich country even though it benefits us not at all. Not even Stalin or Goebbels would have dreamed of such subjugation of a population. Those who claim that the media in our democracy are what the baton and prisons were for tyrannies are right. We have created the perfect democracy!
