Incredible as it may seem, one of the best and most impactful documentaries about Peru has gone practically unnoticed by the public. ESTADO DE MIEDO, subtitled "The Truth About Terrorism," was produced by "Skylight Pictures" of the United States and "Toronja Comunicación Integral" of Peru. The documentary treats the events that occurred during the cruel years of terrorism in Peru with seriousness, artistry, and sophisticated technique. The Ford Foundation sponsored its translation into Quechua and the production of 200 copies distributed among educational organizations. This outstanding film was selected to participate in four film festivals, and won the award for "Best Report on Latin America" given by the Overseas Press Club in 2006.
