The Sorbonne and Peru - Opinion Column
I cannot conceal my joy and emotion, as a colleague and as a friend, at the tribute represented by the honorary doctorate that the University of La Sorbonne has awarded to Salomón Lerner Febres, emeritus rector of the Pontificia Universidad Católica, who chaired the Truth Commission and who is now a member of the commission in charge of the Museum of Memory. The distinction surprises us at a moment when the subject of Peruvian universities still frequently makes the headlines for scandal, and it is therefore a beneficial jolt to keep our faith in academic work alive.
