Photo Contradicts the Army's Account of a Military Base in Putis
Twenty-five years after the massacre of approximately one hundred peasants in Putis, Ayacucho, documentary evidence has emerged confirming that the Army established a military base in that community and that the military are responsible for the mass crime. The evidence, which is in the possession of the Segunda Fiscalía Penal Provincial de Huamanga, contradicts the Ministry of Defense and the heads of various military units, who continue to deny that any base ever existed in the Andean locality.
