Remains of the Disappeared from the Chaupiorcco Case to Be Delivered in Abancay
In an unprecedented act for the Apurímac region, the Ministerio Público will hand over this Friday, November 13, the remains of five people who were killed and disappeared by military personnel in Aymaraes in January 1988. On December 13, 2004, a mass grave was located in the Chaupiorcco area, in the district of Chapimarca, province of Aymaraes, where human skeletal remains were confirmed to exist. The remains were sent to Lima for DNA and fibrin analysis. Through this process, Armando Huamantingo Villanueva, Manuel Niño de Guzmán Ayvar, Juan Pablo Carbajal Hurtado, María Elena Zavala Cayllahua, and Simona Pérez Tapia were identified.
