Putis: A City Without Ghosts

Putis is a ghost town. In the ruins left by the dead, there is not the slightest trace of human life. The abandonment of the village can be felt to the touch, with the damp, stiff moss growing on the stones of the deserted houses; or in the ichu grass roofs that have gradually collapsed over time. Weeds grow inside several of the houses; the lack of human contact has allowed them to grow several meters tall, tangling among the walls, swallowing the roofs. Only the carcasses of houses remain, the shells of rooms, like a beached whale — wooden structures that creak at the slightest contact with the real world that dares to approach. They are ruins, which have suffered the sudden abandonment of their murdered people. Everything is very cold and morbid. Published in October 2009.
