"La Teta Asustada" Wins Top Award at Bogotá Film Festival
The film La teta asustada, by director Claudia Llosa, won today the Círculo Precolombino de Oro at the XXVI Festival Internacional de Cine de Bogotá. Llosa's film tells the story of Fausta, a young woman who suffers from an ailment called "la teta asustada" (the frightened breast), which according to Peruvian beliefs transmits the fear of mothers to their children through breast milk, as her mother was raped by terrorists during a very difficult period in that country in the 1980s. The film won the Golden Bear in Berlin this year. Published on October 9, 2009.
