The Prisons. 21 Years Later
Finally, 21 years later, by order of Judge María León Yarango, it was possible to carry out a reconstruction of the events that took place at the El Frontón Prison on June 18 and 19, 1986, which left a painful trail of death and bloodshed. More than 250 inmates were simply murdered there by military personnel determined to quell what was called a "mutiny" — that is, a prison demand for speedier criminal proceedings and basic humane conditions for those held at the facility.
