Los Cabitos is a box of surprises. And we are not talking about pleasant things. It is a macabre box that reveals, without subtlety, an unimaginable time in Peru — unimaginably close. Last Monday, January 12, two new mass graves were opened at the Los Cabitos barracks, in La Hoyada, bringing the total number of bodies found at that barracks to over one hundred. However, the projections of the former head of the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), Luis Bromley, are chilling: there could be as many as a thousand corpses. Published in 2009.
