46% of Provinces Without Public Defenders
According to a study by the NGO Ciudadanos al Día (CAD), based on information from the Ministerio de Justicia, as of July 2009, 46% of the provinces of Puno have no public defenders, which hampers the proper administration of justice within the jurisdiction of the Corte Superior de Justicia de Puno. The region of Puno ranks eighth in the national ranking of provinces that have no public defenders in their respective jurisdictions. Published August 13, 2009.
