Flores-Aráoz: I Will Not Allow Rudeness from Mario Vargas Llosa or Anyone
The Minister of Defense, Antero Flores-Aráoz, responded to criticisms made by novelist Mario Vargas Llosa regarding the construction of the Museum of Memory with a German donation, and said he would not tolerate rudeness from the writer or from anyone else. "I have great respect for the expressions of others, but I will not accept an insult from Vargas Llosa just because he is who he is," he told the press at the Government Palace. The cabinet member considered that there is no need to offend or insult in order to express disagreement with the opinions of others. Flores-Aráoz reaffirmed his position that construction of a Museum of Memory honoring the victims of terrorist violence that devastated Peru between 1980 and 2000 is not a priority.
