Human Rights and Reparation. A Pending Discussion - Seminar
The seminar that gave rise to this publication set out to gather broad reflection from diverse disciplinary fields on human rights violations and the various dimensions of reparation. The reflections and proposals from different perspectives and viewpoints return to us a dimension that we consider fundamental: reparation is not only an action of the State, it is also and primarily a cultural process that makes room for the recognition of harm and trauma, for individual mourning and for the collective working-through of society. Reparation has been a recurring theme in the subjectivity and politics of our country for years. For most people, "reparations" are limited to economic compensation, to "pensions" as the most concrete expression of the State's recognition of its responsibility for the harm caused to individuals by its agents.
