Memory Magazine No. 7

"Memoria. Revista sobre cultura, democracia y derechos humanos" is an academic publication that seeks to contribute reflections to the necessary and urgent public debate in a country marked by two apparently contradictory realities: a situation of emerging economic and financial development, in contrast with a post-conflict society characterized by fragile and exclusionary institutions, both with implications for the social, cultural, and political life of the nation. This seventh issue offers a collection of essays that explore the various meanings acquired by memories of violence and their social and political implications, both in our country and in various parts of the world. Notable among them are the essays by Félix Reátegui, who analyzes the meaning of the social practice of memory based on demands for reparation from victims of the violence that occurred between 1980 and 2000; and Manuel Burga, who analyzes the different notions of development that have been woven throughout our history since the colonial period.
