Let Us Put an End to Impunity. Sexual Violence Against Women in Armed Conflict and Post-Conflict Situations in Latin America

Through this publication, the aim is to make visible how internal armed conflicts affect men and women differently, highlighting sexual violence, and particularly rape, of which women are victims, especially in countries such as Guatemala, Peru, and Colombia. Although, as a result of pressure from the human rights movement, in the post-conflict period Guatemala and Peru have gone through truth processes, the effective measures adopted by these States in terms of justice and reparation are still insufficient. Violence against women, in all cases, continues to be largely invisible, especially because the vast majority of victims belong to indigenous or Afro-descendant peoples and live in poverty or extreme poverty, reflecting the exclusion that characterizes our societies.
