CUSCO SUPPORT FOR VELASCO
In the plaza de armas of Cusco, a peasant expresses his support for the agrarian reform of Army general EP Juan Velasco Alvarado. In 1968, Velasco overthrew the constitutional president Fernando Belaunde and inaugurated the first phase of the military regime (1968-1975). During the early years of his administration, his measures enjoyed broad popular support.
