VÍCTOR RAÚL HAYA DE LA TORRE, PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY
Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre, founder and leader of the Partido Aprista Peruano, presides over the Constituent Assembly of 1978–1979. He was joined in that role by Ernesto Alayza of the Partido Popular Cristiano and Alan García of Apra. Near the end of his term, Haya de la Torre died from a prolonged illness.
