On January 22, a car bomb with 200 kilograms of dynamite exploded at the bottling plant of the Coca Cola company. In the attack, security guards Julio Balba and Evaristo Ayala were killed; they had been shot by the subversives before the detonation. One of the goals of these attacks was to cause fear and terror among the population, as well as distrust in the government.
