ARMY SOCIAL MISSION

A patrol moves through the Raucana human settlement, founded through a land invasion on July 28, 1990 and the site of the first Sendero Luminoso Popular Struggle Committee to operate in Metropolitan Lima. The Army established a military base that remained for nine years and carried out "sweeps" and "civic actions" consisting of free medical, dental, and barbershop services for residents.
