During 1989 in the district of Uchiza, province of Tocache, department of San Martin, multiple cases of sexual violence and abuse by members of the armed forces were registered. The testimonies documented by the CVR refer to the Uchiza Military Base as the place where these events took place. The context included mobility restrictions where people had to pay to be able to transit, and women were subjected to sexual abuse. Several testimonies (430089 and others) document these events as part of a systematic pattern of sexual violence against women in areas under military control.
