Attack on Umachiri Police Post and Subsequent Church Involvement
On August 18, 1982, the police post in Umachiri was attacked, leading to a forceful police entry into the local Church's social works office and the detention of its employees. The Church, including the vicariate of Ayaviri, protested against the police actions, which included the detention and mistreatment of the local parish priest. The Church issued statements condemning violence and rejecting accusations against its members, emphasizing that no clergy were involved in the attack.
El 18 de agosto de 1982 fue atacado el puesto policial de Umachiri, cerca de Ayaviri.
