TRANVICSA bus fire and murder of Isaac Carmen
The PCP-Sendero Luminoso set fire to a TRANVICSA bus on the Chiquián-Aquia route and murdered its owner Isaac Carmen for not complying with the armed strike called in the Bolognesi region in 1989.
In 1989, in the province of Bolognesi, militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso set fire to a TRANVICSA bus that was traveling between Chiquián and Aquia. During the attack, the hikers murdered Isaac Carmen, who was the owner of the vehicle. The murder was in retaliation for not having complied with the armed strike that the PCP-SL had called for in the region. This was part of the Shining Path's strategy of imposing their control through armed strikes and punishing those who did not respect them.
