Armed confrontation in Molinos, Jauja, between the Army and the MRTA that resulted in 6 military personnel and 58 guerrillas dead. This was the most important setback for the MRTA, signaling its future in the central region.

In 1989, there was an armed confrontation between the Peruvian Army and the MRTA in the district of Molinos, province of Jauja. This combat resulted in the death of 6 military personnel and 58 guerrillas, although the MRTA only claimed responsibility for 42 of its dead. This confrontation was the most important setback for the MRTA in the central region, marking a turning point in its operational capacity. The event occurred in the context of a series of blows that counter-subversive forces dealt to the MRTA during 1989, clearly decimating its political and military capacity in the region.
