Hiking excursions at Pausa

Between 1989 and 1990, subversive incursions by the Shining Path took place in Pausa, capital of the province of Paucar del Sara Sara. During these incursions, Shining Path columns set fire to state offices and committed some murders against the population. The very late arrival of violence in the province of Paucar del Sara Sara explains that it was not until the end of 1991 that the army installed a military base in Pausa. From this base, some 100 military personnel were permanently stationed in Oyolo, who, according to testimonies, also committed some abuses against the population.
