Death of Gilberta Perez Quiñónes

Gilberta Perez Quiñónes, a leader of an aid organization in Junín, was murdered in 1989, presumably by the PCP-SL. Her death is part of the Shining Path's systematic offensive against leaders of popular organizations.

Gilberta Perez Quiñónes was a leader of a welfare organization in the department of Junín who was assassinated in 1989. According to CVR records, the alleged perpetrators of her death were the PCP-SL (Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path). Her case is part of the PCP-SL's offensive against the leaders of popular and welfare organizations that intensified during that period. Gilberta's assassination is part of the PCP-SL's strategy of eliminating leaders they did not control, seeking to subdue the territory through attacks, threats and assassinations against any organization or institution that represented an alternative power.
