Ratification of the liquidation of SAIS Cahuide

Ratification in assembly of the liquidation of SAIS Cahuide, the largest peasant company in the country, after years of economic crisis and internal conflicts. The partner communities subsequently formed multi-communal companies.

On December 29, 1988, an assembly ratified the liquidation of Sociedad Agraria de Interés Social (SAIS) Cahuide, the largest peasant enterprise in the department of Junín and the entire country created by the agrarian reform. This decision came after years of economic crisis that began in 1976, with a drastic reduction in income since 1979 due to the drop in sales of livestock production and sheep wool. The liquidation was preceded by the approval of the 'restructuring' of the company in May 1988. As a result, in January 1989 the partner communities formed multi-communal companies on the right bank of the Mantaro River.
