Armed strike of the PCP-SL in Junín

The PCP-SL carried out an armed strike in Junin on December 20, 1988, as part of the intensification of its violence in the region during that month. This event was part of a series of actions that included the sabotage of electrical infrastructure.

The Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL) carried out an armed strike in the department of Junin on December 20, 1988. This event took place in a context of worsening Shining Path violence in the Junin region during that month. The armed strike was part of the PCP-SL's strategy to paralyze activities and demonstrate its presence and territorial control in the area. During the first 12 days of December of that year, 32 towers of the interconnected electric power system had been knocked down, showing the intensification of the violent actions of the subversive group in the region.
