Disappearance of Oscar Delgado

Oscar Delgado, a Customs worker, was kidnapped and disappeared on December 14, 1988 in Lima, allegedly by the National Police. His case sparked protests by state workers two months later.

Oscar Delgado, a Customs worker, was kidnapped and disappeared on December 14, 1988 in Lima. His disappearance was allegedly attributed to the National Police. Two and a half months after his arrest and disappearance, on February 8, 1989, street demonstrations took place during a strike of state workers protesting for salary demands and against the disappearance of customs leader Oscar Delgado Vera. During these protests, seven people were shot and wounded.
