PCP-SL incursion in Pallanchacra
On December 13, 1988, approximately 150 PCP-SL militants entered the district of Pallanchacra, Pasco, assassinating the mayor. This contingent was probably the same that attacked Huariaca days later.
On December 13, 1988, a contingent of approximately 150 men of the PCP-SL entered the district of Pallanchacra, which borders the Ambo district to the north (department of Huánuco). During this incursion, PCP-SL militants assassinated the district mayor. Pallanchacra was an obligatory transit point for PCP-SL militants to enter neighboring districts in the province of Ambo (Huanuco). It is probable that the same contingent that attacked Pallanchacra was the one that also raided days later, on December 27, 1988, in the town of Huariaca, where they dynamited the municipal council, the police post, the ENTEL PERU installations, the health center and looted the main stores.
