PCP-SL entry to Pallanchacra

On December 10, 1988, approximately 150 PCP-SL militants entered the district of Pallanchacra, assassinating the mayor. This district was a strategic transit point for Shining Path incursions into Huanuco.

A contingent of approximately 150 men of the PCP-SL entered the district of Pallanchacra on December 10, 1988. Pallanchacra borders the Ambo district to the north (department of Huanuco) and was an obligatory transit point for PCP-SL militants to enter neighboring districts in the province of Ambo. During this incursion, PCP-SL militants assassinated the district mayor. It is likely that this same contingent also attacked the district of Huariaca a few days later, on December 13 of the same year.
