Kidnapping of businessman Carlos Ferreyros Aspíllaga by MRTA

MRTA kidnaps businessman Carlos Ferreyros for seven months for economic purposes

Businessman Carlos Ferreyros Aspíllaga was kidnapped as he was leaving his home in La Molina. The MRTA identified him as a member of the Twelve Apostles, the third largest power group in the country. In exchange for his release, the MRTA asked for an advertisement in a well-known newspaper and the delivery of money. According to Victor Polay Campos, MRTA leader, the kidnapping was purely economic. He was released after approximately seven months of captivity. The case shows the relationship between the quality of the victim and the economic purpose of the kidnapping.
