The General Confederation of Peruvian Workers (CGTP) called and carried out a general strike on December 1, 1988. This strike took place in the context of an economic and political crisis during the government of Alan García Pérez. The strike was part of the multiple protests and union mobilizations that characterized that year, in response to the economic policies of the APRA government and the adjustment measures implemented.
