Dynamiting of cable rail towers in San Cristóbal

The PCP-SL dynamited three towers of the cable rail system that moved minerals between San Cristobal and Marh Túnel, Centromín Perú units located 12 kilometers from La Oroya. The attack was part of the Shining Path's strategy of destroying mining infrastructure and forcing armed strikes.

In December 1988, hikers dynamited three towers of the cable rail system that transported minerals from San Cristobal to Marh Túnel, both units located about 12 kilometers from La Oroya and belonging to Centromín Perú. This attack was part of a PCP-SL strategy to attack the mining infrastructure in the region. By then, the PCP-SL not only acted by destroying the company's facilities, but also started calling for "armed strikes", which some of the miners' unions were afraid to do.
