MRTA assembly in Tulumayo plaza
Uniformed and armed MRTA militants called for a public assembly in the Tulumayo plaza in December 1988, where they declared that their struggle was to conquer power for the people.
A group of MRTA militants, uniformed and armed with rifles and other military equipment, called the people to an assembly in the plaza. During this public meeting, the MRTA militants introduced themselves to the population and told them that their struggle was 'to conquer power for the people'. This was one of the sporadic incursions of the MRTA in communities and towns of Tulumayo, which had begun its activities in the area at the end of 1987.
