Condemnation of Aida Mendoza Mateo for the murder of Rear Admiral Ponce Canessa

The Eighth Correctional Court of the Superior Court of Lima sentenced Aida Mendoza Mateo to an indeterminate prison term of no less than twenty-five years for her participation in the murder of Rear Admiral Carlos Ponce Canessa. The conviction was based on evidence obtained at the police level that included physical matches with witnesses, explosives remains in her briefcase, and a bullet wound from the same day of the crime. The sentence was confirmed by the Second Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.
