Detention and torture of villager in Chacapuquio by ronderos
Hooded rangers mistreat and torture villagers in Chacapuquio looking for information on hikers
On September 19, 1988, twenty hooded ronderos arrived at the Chacapuquio annex and called a meeting in town. After gathering them together, they began to mistreat them all. One villager saw a member of his community being beaten and asked the group the reason for the mistreatment, at which point the ronderos proceeded to push him against the wall and demanded that he confess where they were hiding the food and where the hikers were. When he wanted to talk they beat him to make him shut up. The declarant begged not to be mistreated any more and began to spit blood from his mouth.
