Luis Arce Borja, director of El Diario, denounced the seizure of 100,000 copies of the edition containing the interview with Abimael Guzmán Reinoso, originally published in July 1988 as the "Interview of the Century".

On August 19, 1988, Luis Arce Borja, director of the newspaper El Diario, denounced the seizure of 100,000 copies of the special edition containing an interview with Abimael Guzmán Reinoso, leader of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. This interview had been published on July 24, 1988 in a supplement called the 'Interview of the Century'. The massive seizure of these copies represented an attempt by the authorities to limit the dissemination of the Shining Path leader's thought and propaganda. This event occurred in a context of intensification of the counter-subversive struggle and government measures to combat terrorism.
