PCP-SL entry to Chunquipata

On August 9, 1988, a contingent of 25 PCP-SL militants under the command of "comrade Johan" entered the town of Chunquipata in the district of Huariaca, Pasco. This incursion was part of the territorial expansion of the PCP-SL in the region.

On August 9, 1988, a group of 25 militants of the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL) entered the town of Chunquipata, located in the district of Huariaca. The raid was led by "comrade Johan", who commanded the subversive contingent. This event is framed in the context of the first Shining Path incursions in the district of Huariaca, dating back to 1985, and is part of the PCP-SL's strategy to expand its presence in the Pasco area. The entry into Chunquipata preceded by a few months the most violent attack against the town of Huariaca, which occurred on December 27, 1988.
