Shining Path attack on San Genaro

Shining Path attacked the San Genaro mining center in Huancavelica, killing the head of industrial relations and a contractor, and dynamiting electrical towers and mining facilities.

In August 1988, Shining Path raided the San Genaro mining center in Huancavelica. During the attack, the Shining Path gunned down the head of industrial relations and a mining contractor named Ponce. Before leaving the place, the attackers dynamited electric power towers and a large part of the mining center's facilities. This attack was part of a series of violent actions by the PCP-SL against mining centers in the Huancavelica region during 1988.
