Assassination of Governor Alejandro Molina Alvarado in San Juan de Jarpa
The PCP-SL assassinated Governor Alejandro Molina Alvarado in San Juan de Jarpa in August 1988, also dynamiting and setting fire to public buildings such as the Municipality and PROCAD, as well as the district mayor's house.
In August 1988, the PCP-SL made a violent incursion into the district capital of San Juan de Jarpa, assassinating Governor Alejandro Molina Alvarado. During the same raid, the Shining Pathists dynamited and set fire to several public and private premises, including the Municipality, the Promotion and Training Center (PROCAD), and the house of the district mayor Benedicto Melgar Quispealaya, located in the main square. This attack was part of the PCP-SL's strategy to eliminate local authorities and destroy public infrastructure in the Alto Cunas area.
