Murder of lawyer Manuel Febres

The lawyer Manuel Febres, defender of the Shining Path leader Osmán Morote, was murdered in Lima. This crime is part of the selective assassination strategy of the PCP-SL against professionals linked to the legal defense of terrorism cases.

Manuel Febres, defense lawyer for Osmán Morote Barrionuevo, leader of the PCP-SL who had been arrested on June 11, 1988, was assassinated on July 28, 1988. This assassination took place in the context of an escalation of selective violence against political figures, leaders and professionals linked to terrorism cases. The crime was part of the selective annihilation strategy of the PCP-SL during the period of transition to the encirclement of the city (1985-1988).
