Murder of lawyer Manuel Febres Flores claimed by Comando Rodrigo Franco
On July 28, 1988, hours before the presidential message for the National Holidays, the lawyer Manuel Febres Flores, president of the Association of Democratic Lawyers and defender of the Shining Path leader Osmán Morote, was assassinated in Lima. The crime was claimed by a self-styled 'Comando Rodrigo Franco' (CRF), which used the name of the APRA leader murdered by Shining Path the previous year.
