El Diario publishes interview with Abimael Guzman

On July 24, 1988, the newspaper El Diario published an extensive interview with Abimael Guzmán Reinoso, top leader of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. The interview was published in a special supplement called the 'Interview of the Century'. This publication occurred during the second session of the First Congress of the PCP-SL, which took place between July and August 1988. On August 19, Luis Arce Borja, director of El Diario, denounced the seizure of 100,000 copies of the edition of the interview with Abimael Guzmán Reinoso.
